Alert Clinic Topics

The Alert Clinic For ADHD teaches parents the following topics and methods they can use immediately after the clinic:

Stage 1: Identifying alertness levels

Stage 2: Experimenting with methods to change level of alertness

Stage 3: Regulating alertness on a consistent basis

By the end of this clinic, parents learn how ADHD children's alertness can vary greatly throughout the day.  They also learn ways to teach their children how to identify alertness levels and make adjustments to keep it at the right level for the task at hand.  To learn more about the Alert Clinic, please contact A Talented Mind today at 804-272-3927 or cerreto@atalentedmind.com.

Alert Clinic For ADHD

Teaching Parents How ADHD Kids Can Self-Regulate Alertness

To effectively manage their attention, children with attention deficit need to continually monitor, change, and maintain their level of alertness so it is "just right" for the task at hand.  The two-hour Alert Clinic gives parents an overview of sensory motor activities ADHD children can use to self-regulate their alertness in real-time.  The clinic is based on the Alert Program: How Does Your Engine Run? developed by Occupational Therapists Sherry Shellenberger and Mary Sue Williams, and is a service A Talented Mind provides through its Sensory Alert service for ADHD children.  Learn more about the Sensory Alert service at ADHD Intensive Program.
